What is a Class 3 Individual DSC?
The Highest-Security Digital Signature for Individuals
A Class 3 Individual Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic identity credential issued to an individual person — not a company — under the IT Act 2000 and CCA (Controller of Certifying Authorities) guidelines.
It works like a physical signature but in digital form. When you sign a document or a government portal form with your DSC, it proves that you — and only you — signed it. It is tamper-proof, legally valid and accepted on every Indian government e-portal.
Class 3 is the highest security level available. It requires in-person or video-based identity verification (Aadhaar eKYC) — making it trusted for high-stakes transactions like tax filings, MCA registrations and government tenders.
Legal validity: A DSC issued by a CCA-licensed Certifying Authority (like eTrust, SpeedSign, VSign) has full legal standing under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (Section 3 & 5). It is mandatory — not optional — for many government filings.
